Take a trip down the rabbit hole and join Alice in Plasticland

Our February calendar features Sales Rep Mary as the 19 year old Alice returning to wonderland, the realm that resembles the nightmares she had as a child. The film, Alice In Wonderland (2010), while bizarre, was a visual treat. Alice in Plasticland however, plays host not to opium-abusing cats, cranium-enhanced queens, and mentally unstable hat makers, but over-sized plastic bottles, sprayers, and pumps.
So, how did I do it? I can't wait to tell you. To complete this project, I had to channel my diorama-making skills that I perfected in the third grade.

Making Plasticland
I wandered out into the warehouse and grabbed a large piece of cardboard and stole a box cutter from the warehouse desk. I walked down the aisles and filled a box with random containers and closures. I went out to the creepy area behind the warehouse (where our doberman is chained) and found a few sticks and some rocks. I ran to the store and bought a bag of potting soil and peat moss. I grabbed a bunch of white paper out of the printer and fired up my glue gun. Thirty minutes later ... voila!

I had to play a bit with lighting and camera angle to get it just right, but there you have it ... in it's pre-photoshopped state.

Finding Alice
This wasn't hard at all actually. Sales Rep Mary looks a lot like Mia Wasikowski (the actress that played Alice). Well, that is until Mary got a Brazilian keratin treatment and dyed her hair red. 

Mia Wasikowski and Mary ... not a bad resemblance, eh?

Putting it all together
I put in a sky, brushed in some mist, put Mary's face on Mia's body and put her in my diorama of Plasticland.
